Introducing our real bride of the month, Vanessa! Vanessa and her husband Shamon went to rival high schools in Cleveland, MS. They dated briefly and went their separate ways. When Vanessa returned home from living in Illinois, she ran into Shamon, and the rest is history.
"I fell in love with Shamon when I was sick one time, and I couldn't put my socks on," says Vanessa. "He put my socks on and tucked me in. I knew from that moment on that he was the man of my dreams. I knew he would take care of me in sickness and in health. Even though we had not said any vows, I knew when he slept on the hard cot and then went to work with no complaints, he was a keeper!"
Vanessa chose Style 2507 for her wedding and paired it with a cape veil altered by her mother. "I loved my wedding dress from the moment I put it on," she says. "However, I did not buy it then. I am so indecisive and tried on at least 10 more dresses. Finally, I gave up because my heart kept bringing me back to it. I wanted the sequin, the bling, the overlay, the lace detail and especially the tulle. A bride can never go wrong with tulle!"
Vanessa and Shamon dated on and off for 8 years, but always found their way back to each other. Because of this, their wedding theme was "Love Never Fails." "My wedding turned out to be the most beautiful day ever," says Vanessa. The bride loves the outdoors, so it only made sense that the backdrop for their wedding day was the Barn at Bridlewood in Hattiesburg, MS. "I called my wedding day rustic goes glam," Vanessa says. "I loved the barn, but I wanted to add the sequin, candlelight, crinkled taffeta. And I had to have the naked cake. All in all, my candles were flickering, my guests were full from the catering of Fabulous Food and Concessions, and our hearts were full of joy."
From Vanessa: "My wedding reception was a big party. So many people had encouraged us along the way throughout the years, and they were there to support us. Even though it was a Sunday evening, many of our guests came from miles to show their love. The bridal party came in to Bruno Mars' 'Magic.' Shamon and I split off after being announced, and we greeted our guests. This was important to me because I did not want anyone to slip out by it being an evening wedding, and I didn’t get to tell them how much I am grateful for them coming. I had an awesome dance with my husband, and my dad stole the show with his two-step to Stevie Wonder’s 'Isn't She Lovely.' I was so happy, and I was so full of joy the entire night. The highlight of my night was when my matron and maid of honor gave their speeches. There wasn’t a dry eye in the entire room. Afterward, even the DJ said he needed to crank the party up because he almost cried.
Shamon and I thanked all of our guest for traveling to be with us and wished them safe travels to their various destinations. I can honestly say that we were surrounded by people who had been praying for us, people that support us, and people that want us to have happiness in our marriage. I am so in love with Famium Shamon Lunford, and I really didn’t know how much until that night. He is a man that will do anything for me and our child, and I know my life is going to be amazing as his wife. I had so many compliments on my dress and the train, and even when it was bustled, it still was a gorgeous gown. I felt like a princess, and that’s exactly how every little girl dreams her wedding will be."
